Abstract
The inhibitory effects of total polyphenols extracts from Euryale ferox seed coat against α-glucosidase and α-amylase were studied through the in vitro testing of inhibition rate and inhibition kinetics. The results showed that the total polyphenols exhibited strong inhibitory effects against α-glucosidase and α-amylase in vitro with dose-effect relationship and the IC50 were 0.08 mg/m L and 0.30 mg/m L,respectively. The inhibition type was reversible and competitive inhibitor. In conclusion,Euryale ferox seed coat would be a potential source for a hypoglycemic functional food or medicine.
