Abstract
One experiment was conducted to produce single cell protein feed by using inferior bananas. Drawing assistance from Design-Expert 8.0.6 software, Placket-t Burman experimental design and response surface methodology were applied to optimizing production conditions for single cell protein feed from inferior bananas. The important factors influencing protein production, which were identified by initial experimental design of Placket-t Burman were inoculation, fermentation temperature and fermentation time. Box-Behnken design and response surface analysis were adopted to further investigate the mutual interaction between the variables and obtain optimal values that bring maximum protein production. The optimal conditions for the maximal production discriminated from the regression equation were:inoculation 12%, fermentation temperature 27℃, fermentation time 50 h. The protein content was 30.65%, which had a small error with the predictive value of 30.38%, the model was proved to be reasonable.
