Isolation and identification of osmophilic yeasts from honey

  • The osmophilic yeast strains in a total of 13 honey samples collected from north of China were isolated and identified.The morphological, physiological and biochemical properties tests were conducted, as well as 26S rDNA sequence analysis.The results indicated that 7 osmophilic yeast strains were finally identified as follows: strain A and B were Schizosaccharomyces octosporus; strain C, D and E were Zygosaccharomyces mellis; strain F and G were Zygosaccharomyces siamensis.
