Abstract
The novel crosslinked chitosan resin was synthesized and characterized using glutaraldehyde as crosslinking agen for pollutant removal of heavy metal ions in drinking water. Effects of adsorption conditions, such as the concentration of copper, pH value and the temperature on the adsorption quantity of Cu (II) were studied. The crosslinked chitosan resin, and after adsorption with Cu (II) by crosslinked resin were characterized by FTIR. The result showed that the adsorption of Cu (II) reached the maximum 510mg/g at the concentration of copper 20g/L, pH3.5 and 70℃. IR ananlysis showed that Schiff base reaction occurred between the carbonyl group of glutaraldehyde and amine group of chitosan and the chelate reaction occurred between the chitosan and copper (II) .
